ValEd and its subsidiaries and related companies (hereinafter referred to as "ValEd", "Website", "we", "us", "our") know how important it is for you to know how your Personal Information as defined below is collected, used, processed and shared. This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") informs you of our policies about collecting, using, and disclosing personal data when you use ValEd. Our purpose of personal data collection is to continuously improve the service that we provide. By using the Website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Please read this Privacy Policy ("Policy") carefully to understand our privacy practices. Personal Information also includes Student Data (as defined below).

Who This Policy Covers

This Policy applies to all users of the Services who are 18 years of age or older. For the avoidance of confusion, “you” or “your” in this Policy refers to all users of the Services, including teachers and administrators accessing, using or receiving our Services. The Services are designed for use by teachers and administrators; please see “Student Data” below for how ValEd currently handles information relating to students.

You are accessing, using or receiving our Services when you:

Access or use the ValEd's website available at www.valed.org and any of our other websites or applications that post this Policy, as well as any services made available through those websites or applications; or Communicate with us, such as by submitting an inquiry through our website, registering for and/or attending an event, corresponding with us by phone, email or otherwise, subscribing to one of our mailing lists, newsletters or other forms of marketing communications, or provide information requested by us to comply with our professional obligations.

Should ValEd introduce features that involve the collection of Student Data in the future, we will update this Policy accordingly and provide notice as required by applicable law, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and applicable state student privacy laws. Where required, we will also enter into appropriate data privacy agreements with Schools governing the use of any Student Data.

What Personal Information We Collect

We collect Personal Information about you when you voluntarily submit information directly to us by accessing, using or receiving the Services. We may also collect Personal Information from third parties, such as from Schools, service providers, public databases, business partners or affiliates, social media networks and/or through the use of cookies and other technologies. Single Sign On:

You may choose to access, use or receive the Services by logging on or otherwise associating with another third party (for example, Google or Microsoft). In such instances, we may receive Personal Information from that third party to make it easier for you to create an account on the Services and display relevant content, such as your name, username, email address, language preference, or profile picture. The amount and type of Personal Information we collect from such third parties may depend on the privacy settings you or your School(s) have with that third party. We may obtain information from other sources, including through our service providers, affiliates, third-party information providers, business partners, or through transactions such as mergers and acquisitions. We may combine this information with other information we collect from or about you. In these cases, our Policy governs the handling of the combined Personal Information. We use this information to operate, maintain, and provide to you with the features and functionality of the Services, as well as to communicate directly with you, such as to send you email messages about products and services that may be of interest to you. Student Data

At this time, ValEd's Services are designed for use by teachers and administrators. Materials and content generated through the Services are intended to be printed or distributed offline directly to students by their teachers. ValEd does not currently create student accounts, and we do not knowingly collect, store, or retain Personal Information about individual students, including names, grades, assignments, or other identifying information about students, through the Services.

How We Use Personal Information

We use the Personal Information we collect to operate, maintain and provide our Services, and to make the features and functionality of the Services available to you. We also use your Personal Information to support your questions and concerns, to personalize your content so that it is relevant to the state, city or country you are using the Services from, and to send you relevant news, alerts and marketing communications. We also use this Personal Information to help us with our business operations, including development of new products and services, and to comply with our legal and contractual obligations, including enforcing our contractual rights, protecting our business interests, and investigating and protecting against fraudulent activity.

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect Personal Information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures may include encryption of data in transit, access controls limiting who within ValEd can view Personal Information, and regular review of our security practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a security incident that compromises your Personal Information, we will notify affected individuals and/or Schools as required by applicable law.

Data Retention

We retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, and comply with our legal obligations. When determining how long to retain information, we consider factors such as the length of our relationship with you or your School, whether retention is necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements, and any applicable legal or regulatory retention requirements.

When Personal Information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it. If your School's relationship with ValEd ends, account data associated with that School will be deleted or de-identified within 180 days unless a longer retention period is required by law.

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes to this Policy, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy above. All changes to this Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
